My Background
I’ve been passionate about textiles and the world of Interiors since a small child and would spend hours watching my mother sewing curtains or dressmaking.
I’ve worked within the Curtain and Soft Furnishings industry for over 35 years, starting my journey at just 14 years old. I would spend every Saturday and all my school holidays working for a renowned Interior Designer, sewing everything from curtains, pelmets, tie backs and whatever else I could create with fabric!
After gaining various qualifications in Interior design, Soft Furnishings, Art and Design and working for various renowned Interior Designers, I started my own small curtain making business in 1992, making bespoke soft furnishings for high end clientele.
Curtain Making Courses
Here at Curtain Academy classes are kept small to allow for individual attention and accelerated learning. Our typical class size usually consists of just four students. This allows students to complete a project in just one day. Beginners don’t feel pressurized as could be with a larger class. My method of teaching is to give students a fun and relaxing experience within a creative environment.
Once you complete a course with Curtain Academy you’ll receive free access to all our curtain making DVDs. A great way to refresh your memory if life gets in the way before you start your sewing projects.
Whatever your level of experience you are guaranteed to leave Curtain Academy overflowing with knowledge, skills and inspiration to start your own curtains or soft furnishing business.
